Saint-Gobain MARISEAL 400 Aliphatic Polyurethane Top-Coat - Liquid Membrane
MARISEAL 400 is a premium, one-component, liquid-applied, polyurethane waterproofing membrane. It's designed for cold application and cold curing, forming a highly elastic and durable membrane. This product provides long-lasting waterproofing protection for a variety of surfaces, offering exceptional resistance to weathering, UV radiation, and mechanical stress. MARISEAL 400 is known for its ease of application, making it suitable for both professional and DIY projects. It cures by reacting with atmospheric moisture, adhering strongly to a wide range of substrates. Its high elasticity allows it to accommodate structural movement, ensuring continued waterproofing performance over time. This makes it ideal for applications on roofs, balconies, terraces, and other areas exposed to demanding environmental conditions.
Consumption: 0.120-0.250 kg/m2 in one or two layers

APPLICATION
- Used as a top-coat over exposed, polyurethane waterproofing membranes on roofs, balconies, terraces, verandas
- For the protection of polyurethane foam insulation.
CHARACTERISTICS
- One-component, liquid-applied polyurethane membrane.
- Cold-applied and cold-curing.
- Moisture-cured (reacts with atmospheric moisture).
- Forms a highly elastic and durable membrane.
- Excellent adhesion to various substrates.
- High elasticity and flexibility.
- Superior resistance to weathering and UV radiation.
- Resistant to mechanical stress.
- Provides long-lasting waterproofing protection.
- Easy application.
- Suitable for roofs, balconies, and terraces.
- Accommodates structural movement.
How to use
- Ensure the substrate is clean, dry, and free from any contaminants like dust, grease, oils, and loose particles.
- Repair any cracks, holes, or uneven surfaces before application.
- Priming is essential to ensure proper adhesion. Use the appropriate MARISEAL primer recommended by the manufacturer, especially on porous surfaces like concrete.
- Allow the primer to fully cure before applying MARISEAL 400.
- The substrate must be dry, avoid standing water.
- MARISEAL 400 is a one-component product, so typically only stirring is required. Stir thoroughly before use.
- Apply MARISEAL 400 using a brush, roller, or airless spray. Airless spray is most efficient for larger areas.
- Apply in multiple thin layers to achieve the recommended total thickness. Always adhere to the manufacturer's specified application rates.
- Multiple thin layers are better than one thick layer.
- Always follow the manufacturers instructions relating to the amount of product that should be applied per square meter.
- In areas prone to movement (corners, joints), reinforce with a suitable polyester fleece or fabric, embedding it into the wet membrane.
- Ensure adequate overlapping of layers to create a continuous, seamless membrane.
- Be aware that the product starts to cure when exposed to the moisture in the air.
- MARISEAL 400 cures by reacting with atmospheric moisture. Curing time is influenced by temperature and humidity.
- Allow sufficient curing time before exposing the membrane to water or traffic.
- Protect the freshly applied membrane from rain, dust, and other contaminants during the curing phase.
- Inspect the cured membrane for any defects or thin spots.
- A topcoat may be applied for added protection or aesthetic purposes, as directed by the manufacturer.
Important Notes:
- Always consult the MARISEAL 400 technical data sheet and application guide for detailed instructions.
- Pay close attention to temperature and humidity, as these factors can significantly impact curing time.
- Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, respirators, eye protection, etc.).
